MGC Commodore No 1 in GTP Privateers Cup after round one.

Following round 1 at Oran Park the MGC Commodore is currently ranked No 1 with 93 points.

Australian Performance Car Championship is a National Championship.

This year the series is conducted over seven (7) rounds. MGC Racing s currently leading Ferntree Gully Privateer Cup section of this championship. Gaining maximum points from Round 1 give the team new focus heading into round 2 at Wakefield.

GTP Championship

The GTP Championship represents some of the most desirable and competitive motor cars available today. From HSV Commodoors to the exotic Germany BWM M3. This category is the only true performance indicator in Australia between affordable high performance vehicles. winning vehicles are also subject to success ballast at the completion of each race which very much helps even out the field.

All vehicles in this category begin life as a standard, high performance vehicle. The MGC Commodore was in fact the road vehicle of quite a famous Australian before it was converted to a racing vehicle by Frank Lowndes (father of Craig). MGC Racing purchased this vehicle before the Sandown 500 in 2003 and have made extensive changes together with the ever changing competitive nature of the category.

Vehicle Specifications:
While the major mechanical systems are standard we do have fitted a number of standard fixtures to protect the driver in the event of an accident. Many of the standard systems have also been customised to provide a greater level or reliability and durability to withstand the harsh treatment during races.

Category Parity:
Due to the extensive range of eligible vehicles, a parity system is used to ensure all vehicles compete on an even playing field, this results in close and exciting racing. Success Ballast system is used throughout the Championship, that sees additional weight added to the first 3 place finishers of each race for the following race. This system ensures varying race winners resulting in an extremely tight Championship battle and great entertainment.
